District 6 will be hosting a livestock judging workout on
April 2nd at Howard College in Big Spring, Tx. This will be a
4-H focused workout going from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. that day. At this time we
have confirmed that we will have classes of heifers, bulls, market sheep,
market goats, market pigs, and breeding gilts. We are working to make
sure we have at least one class of market steers and possibly ewes and
does. We will also have a group of people to listen to reasons at the
workout. These people will include collegiate livestock judging coaches,
collegiate judgers, and agents or extension personnel with a background in
livestock judging.
The workout is free. It will be come as you please and
work at your own pace. The reason takers will also be able to help with
talking to your teams about classes and placings. I think this will be a
tremendous workout to prepare for spring district contests or State
Roundup.
