4-H Professionals News & Notes 11/19/19


Registration is now open for this special session of Citizenship Washington Focus. 4-H'ers ages 14-19 will learn the intricacies of the Executive branch and explore their role in citizenship. We want to provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience for youth and for this reason, priority will be given to groups with at least four youths to each adult. Don't miss this monumental event in history!

The National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health sets aside the third Thursday of every November to celebrate National Rural Health Day. Join us on Thursday, November 21, by tweeting your support at 11:21 AM using the hashtag #powerofrural to “Celebrate the Power of Rural”, spotlight the unique healthcare challenges that rural citizens face and the efforts of rural healthcare providers, State Offices of Rural Health and other rural stakeholders to address those challenges.




In 4‑H, we believe in the power of young people. 4‑H Youth Voices places the spotlight on the diverse perspectives of youth from all beliefs and backgrounds who are creating positive change in the world around us. From battling the opioid crisis to fighting mental health stigmas to reducing food waste through local advocacy, 4‑H’ers are helping solve some of the nation’s greatest challenges.



Nominations are open for the 2020 National Ag Day Student Leadership Training, exclusive Bayer Prelude and Ag Day activities on Capitol Hill March 22-24, in Washington, D.C. Each state 4-H office may nominate up to two individuals. Nominees must submit application by December 6th. Thanks to Bayer, travel & lodging will be covered for the ten selected 4-H representatives.
