PECAN AUXILIARY MEETING

Hey all!  We are excited to announce that the Bastrop County Pecan Grower's Auxiliary Club will be having a meeting at 6:00 PM on Friday, August 6, 2021, at the Sharps' Santa House located at 278 Hwy 304 in Bastrop!

The meeting will include a potluck style supper.  The Club will provide a baked ham, iced tea, and water.  Each member/guest is asked to being a side dish or a dessert.  If you have any family members or friends who would like to join us, we will collect fees (usually just $1) and update the list of members.

For our newer 4-H members, the Pecan Grower's Auxiliary Club helps to put on the Pecan Bake Show & Sale, the Valentine's Day Bake Sale, and provides some scholarships and sponsorships to our 4-H members.

The following items will be on the agenda:

• Scholarships
• Leadership Lab Fees
• Cake Auction
• Awards Banquet
• Bake Sale or Raffle

Please let us know at the CEO by August 1st if you plan to attend so we can send reminders as we get closer.

2021 CAKE AUCTION INFORMATION

Hey all!

We are happy to pass on the invitation for the 2021 Cake Auction! We are excited to let you know that the Cake Auction will take place on Saturday, August 7, 2021, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Jerry Fay Wilhelm Center for the Performing Arts in Bastrop. 

This information was sent to your club managers earlier on Saturday morning, along with the number of cakes required of each club (assigned based on club enrollment).  Please work with your club managers to sign up to bake and bring a cake to the Auction.  This auction serves as the primary fundraiser for our Bastrop County 4-H Program and scholarships for the upcoming 4-H year.  Participating in this opportunity not only helps us to be able to provide some fun, high-quality events throughout the year, but also counts as a volunteer leadership and promotional leadership experience in your recordbooks!  

We would like you to help us out by signing up to bake a cake with your club managers so they can let us know the names of the youth baking the cakes from your club and a brief description of the cake by July 31^st to allow us some time to put together a nice auction list for the buyers and to allow us a little time to send details and reminders to the bakers. 

Please also be sure to share the invitation with everyone in the community!!!

• Bastrop Bullseyes Shooting Sports: 2 cakes
• Bastrop 4-H Club: 2 cakes
• Loblolly 4-H Club: 3 cakes
• Rockne 4-H Club: 8 cakes
• Smithville 4-H Club: 3 cakes

YLP TOASTMASTER'S PUBLIC SPEAKING CAMP DETAILS & RSVP

HAPPY JULY!

Okay - last email blast of today!  We wanted to send out a little on our Professional YoU! Series that is starting up to help our youth feel a little more comfortable in preparing for some of the upcoming opportunities they will participate in.  We'll also collect feedback from participants on what topics they want to cover in the upcoming sessions.

OVERVIEW:

• The Professional YoU! Workshop is designed for youth who would like help with developing their professional skills and presence!
• This will be the first session offered this year - we will also have another session offered on Saturday, October 9th!
• This session will take place at the Bastrop County Extension Office (901 Pecan St in Bastrop) on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM and will cover a large number of etiquette topics.
• We will be practicing our dining etiquette with food at lunch (provided)!

 

COST & RSVP INFO:

• The camp is FREE for all of our Bastrop County 4-H Members to participate in!
• The camp is $15 for any youth that are FFA or from another county 4-H program!

YLP TOASTMASTER'S PUBLIC SPEAKING CAMP DETAILS & RSVP

HAPPY JULY!

We are super excited to start jumping into our July 2021 activities and wanted to pass on the details of our Youth Leadership Program (YLP) Toastmaster's Public Speaking Camp with you!  This experience is a truly fun one - this is the one camp where we actually ask parents to drop off their kids, the event is facilitated by youth who have been through the course for at least 3-4 years, the County Extension Agents, and a Toastmaster's Volunteer.  If you have any questions or need help with transportation, please let Mellanie know :)

OVERVIEW:

• This is a 3-day Public Speaking Camp that combines some of our favorite 4-H public speaking activities with the Toastmaster's method and expertise!
• Youth will work together to learn how to give constructive feedback, learn the basics of public speaking, as well as prepare (and deliver!) 3 different types of speeches
  • 2 of the speeches are pretty simple - the first will be introducing themselves to the group, the second will be a surprise!
  • the 3rd speech will be a short, inspirational speech that will be delivered at the graduation ceremony
• This year, we are going to be hosting the camp at a Travis County Facility (around the Manor area) 

 

 

COST & RSVP INFO:

• The camp is FREE for all of our Bastrop County 4-H & Travis County 4-H Members to participate in!
• We will limit the experience to the first 20 people to sign up

HAPPY JULY!

We are super excited to start jumping into our July 2021 activities and wanted to pass on the details of our County Camp to you!

OVERVIEW:

• Our County Camp is a camp specifically for our Bastrop County 4-H members that is designed and led by our Bastrop County 4-H Council!
• This year, we are focusing on fun activities that help build skills in teamwork, leadership, club meeting participation, and communication.

 

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE (May change slightly depending on pool availability):

• 9:30 AM Check-In at the Park
• 10:00 AM Ice-Breakers & Games
• 11:00 AM Team Building Activity Rotations
• 12:00 Noon Lunch (Provided)
• 1:00 PM Communication Activities
• 2:00 PM Escape Room Activity
• 3:00 PM Intro to Parliamentary Procedure
• 4:00 PM Swimming/Free Time
• 5:00 PM Supper (Provided)
• 6:00 PM Departure

 

COST & RSVP INFO:

• The camp is FREE for all of our Bastrop County 4-H Members to participate in!
