INFORMATION IN THIS EMAIL BLAST (IN ORDER):

  • Judges

  • Schedule Updates & Notes
  • Other Opportunities

Hey all!

We wanted to take a few minutes to pass on some updates and answer a few questions we've received for participants in the Smithville Livestock Show.  We have received everyone's eligibility back, if an individual was marked as "ineligible" for any reason, their parents have been contacted directly.  Other than that, if you have any questions that are not answered/addressed below, please contact Mellanie as soon as possible at MLMickelson@ag.tamu.edu or 512-522-9174.  I'll also be at the show both Friday and Saturday if you need anything!  Good Luck!

JUDGES:

  • Please see a tentative list of judges for this year's show below, there may be some last minute changes made to the judges
    • Cattle: Matthew Dean
    • Hogs: David Wright
    • Lambs/Goats: Clayton Schram
    • Poultry: Larry Nickles
    • Rabbits: John Terry

SALE/AUCTION UPDATES & NOTES:

  • The show board is working on a resale bid for the auction:
    • If your buyers want your animal, you don't have to worry about this - you would make arrangements with your buyer on how to get your animal to them
    • If your buyers DO NOT want your animal, that is when resale would apply.  You'll let the committee know at the sale and they will pass on the information on who, what, when, and where to drop off your animal.
  • There will be no animals at the sale - no official decision was made on what youth need to bring with them to auction.  Some ideas that have been passed around are:
    • Posterboard - could have your name, picture of your animal, etc.
    • A framed picture of your animal to provide to your buyer
    • An index card or small piece of paper with a few things about you for the announcer to read.  Some suggestions on what to include are listed below:
      • Name
      • Grade
      • Favorite 4-H Project
      • What was your favorite part of exhibiting at the Bastrop show this year?
      • Graduating seniors – be sure to include what  your plans are after high school (college, trade school, major area of study, etc.)
  • We will be tearing down and cleaning up after the auction - please plan to stay and help with this

SCHEDULE UPDATES:

  • Below is the official schedule for the Smithville Livestock Show this weekend
  • Please note that the times listed are now the times that the species show will start
  • Please plan to arrive about 30 minutes below your specie scheduled start time for unloading and check-in
  • We will be tearing down and cleaning up after the auction - please plan to stay and help with this

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES:

  • Other opportunities can be found on the County Calendar – registration information should be included for each post.
  • Other Contest related opportunities can be found on the Judging Card Calendar – to sign up for these opportunities, please contact Mellanie at MLMickelson@ag.tamu.edu or at 512-581-7186
